First
of all, the protein requirement is not nearly as high as
people imagine. The average person needs about 25 to 30
grams of protein a day. You can get plenty of proteins for
a healthy body from beans, whole grains, brown rice, and
many vegetables and even fruit. If you want to eat some
animal protein, try some fish and lean chicken or turkey.
And of course, free range animals are the best.
Red
meat has very little fiber. It stays in your intestines
so long that it actually causes toxemia because of decay
that takes place inside of you. Another problem is that
animals raised for rood are raised very badly with lots
of antibiotics. There is some movement underway in Europe
to outlaw the heavy use of antibiotics in animals. For that
reason, too, I try to buy some free-range chickens that
have been raised in a natural manner.
Once
other reason why I hold down my protein intake from animals
is because there is some evidence that too much animal protein
in our system actually leads to a loss of calcium from the
body and you know what leads to - osteoporosis. When you
take in too much protein, the undigested protein will turn
into uric acid and that will soften your bones. If you want
to know more about this subject, rent or purchase Dr.Klaper's
tapes including my interview with him. He speaks very well
about that issue. |
